Job Description

Are you a seasoned and certified Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget? MTN Nigeria is seeking a strategic and highly skilled Project Manager to join our dynamic team in Abuja. This is a critical role responsible for leading a diverse portfolio of high-impact technical and business projects, from network infrastructure rollouts and 5G expansion to new digital product launches and corporate initiatives.

As the central point of leadership for your assigned projects, you will manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation and planning through to execution, monitoring, and successful closure. What You Will Do

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of multiple, concurrent strategic projects.
  • Develop comprehensive and detailed project plans, including scope, budget, timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Expertly manage project teams, external vendors, and senior internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, resolve issues as they arise, and provide clear, regular status reports to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the project scope, goals, and deliverables in close collaboration with senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Create and manage comprehensive project documentation, including project charters, work breakdown structures (WBS), communication plans, and risk registers.
  • Lead, motivate, and coordinate cross-functional project teams (including Engineering, IT, Marketing, and Sales) to ensure collaboration and high performance.
  • Develop and meticulously manage the project budget, tracking all expenditures and ensuring that financial controls and reporting are strictly maintained.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and provide clear, concise, and accurate reports to the Project Management Office (PMO) and executive leadership.
  • Manage the relationship with all project stakeholders, including government agencies and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective and professional communication at all times.

Required Skills

  • Expert knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, Agile, PRINCE2) and best practices.
  • Proven and exceptional leadership, senior stakeholder management, and team-building skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in using project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana, or similar tools).
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, risk management, and complex problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is a strong plus.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of direct, hands-on experience in a formal project management role, managing complex projects.
  • A current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Prior experience in the telecommunications, ICT, or a related technology industry is highly desirable.
