Job Description

Dangote Cement Plc is seeking a high-calibre Plant Operations Manager to lead the entire operational function of our major cement plant in Calabar. What You Will Do

  • Provide strategic, hands-on leadership for all day-to-day plant operations, encompassing production, maintenance, quality control, and logistics.
  • Drive the consistent achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including production volume, cost efficiency, product quality, and critical safety metrics.
  • Champion a world-class Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture across the entire plant, ensuring zero harm to people and the environment.
  • Develop, manage, and control the plant’s multi-billion Naira operational budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and stringent cost management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all plant operations within the company's established policies and budgetary constraints to maximize efficiency and profitability.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM) to optimize productivity, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing, engaged, and disciplined operations team through effective recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Ensure the plant's full compliance with all local, national, and corporate regulations regarding safety, environmental standards, and product quality.
  • Oversee the plant's overall maintenance strategy (preventive and corrective) to ensure maximum equipment reliability, availability, and uptime.
  • Liaise effectively with other key departments (such as Sales, Supply Chain, HR, and Finance) to ensure cohesive and integrated business operations.

Required Skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng./B.Sc.) in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering is required. An MBA or a Master's degree in a relevant field is a strong advantage.
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive, hands-on experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment (cement, steel, mining, power, or similar process industries).
  • At least 5 years of direct experience in a senior operational management role (e.g., Production Manager, Plant Manager, Head of Operations).
  • Professional engineering certification (COREN) and/or membership in a relevant professional body is highly desirable.
