The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Staff Data Scientist to join our analytics and data science team. In this role, you’ll shape the future of growth marketing and lifecycle engagement, driving insights, experimentation, and strategy to improve how Slack connects with its users.
You’ll partner with Marketing, Product, and Engineering teams to define engagement drivers, design and execute experiments, and build data-driven strategies that directly impact product growth and customer success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop data-driven audience segmentation and lifecycle marketing strategies across email, push, and digital campaigns.
- Lead A/B and multivariate experimentation initiatives, from framework design to post-campaign analysis.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to establish KPIs, ensure data accuracy, and improve campaign measurement.
- Analyze user behavior and product usage to identify opportunities for improved engagement and retention.
- Translate complex datasets into clear insights and communicate findings to marketing and product leadership.
- Define and track success metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and support executive decision-making.
- Design scalable, efficient data models and support innovation in growth experimentation.
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in Data Science, ideally within Growth or Product Marketing.
- Advanced skills in SQL and a statistical programming language (Python or R).
- Strong expertise in experimental design (A/B testing, causal inference, multivariate tests).
- Experience working with large-scale data technologies (Snowflake, Spark, Hive, Presto, Hadoop).
- Knowledge of marketing channels (email, push, paid media) and related KPIs.
- Experience with data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Looker) and ability to communicate insights effectively.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence product and marketing strategy.
- Familiarity with workflow/orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow (preferred).
