What’s the Role

Join Shell’s Technical Asset Support organization in Chennai as an Associate Engineer – CMMS. In this role, you’ll ensure accurate CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) delivery, analyze technical data, collaborate across teams, and drive efficiency improvements. You will develop data structures, extract technical information from engineering drawings, create maintenance plans, support SAP-based planning, and uphold safety standards.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver CMMS builds across Upstream, Downstream, and IGRES with a focus on first-time-right execution.
  • Perform analysis of technical data and documentation, collaborating with engineering, maintenance, operations, and project teams to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and set up key data structures for CMMS builds.
  • Extract tags and technical details from PFS, PEFS, SLD, and other engineering documents.
  • Build preventive maintenance plans (PM Plans) based on equipment care strategies.
  • Support planning and scheduling of PM Plans within SAP.
  • Understand equipment and asset life cycles, from planning to decommissioning.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to maximize business value.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and governance for CMMS.
  • Perform audits, close identified gaps, and provide CMMS data as needed.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders across Maintenance, Reliability, Operations, IM&IT, ORA, EPC, and Spares Management.

What You Bring

  • University degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in Plant Maintenance within manufacturing or upstream environments using CMMS.
  • Familiarity with SAP PM/MM, Maximo, or other ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of Web Integrity Management System (WIMS), SPI-IN tools, and Engineering Document Management Systems (EDMS).
  • Skills in reliability-centered maintenance, root cause analysis, equipment failure analysis, risk assessment, and hazard analysis.
  • Experience supporting EPCM contractors, executing CMMS builds, and performing quality inspections of project data.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Initiative-driven, analytical thinker, capable of problem-solving and applying engineering best practices.
  • Professional engineering certification is an advantage.
