Join Sony Music Entertainment’s AWAL A&R team as an A&R Assistant in New York City—a pivotal role where you’ll support the A&R operations of one of the world’s most forward-thinking music companies. This is an administrative yet artist-first position ideal for candidates who combine impeccable organization with a passion for emerging talent and music innovation.
As an A&R Assistant, you will manage recording budgets and advance payments, oversee the recording process and delivery of artist assets, coordinate deal flow, and optimize internal systems and processes. You’ll serve as a vital liaison for artists, managers, mastering studios, and engineers, ensuring that label operations run smoothly, creatively, and efficiently. You’ll schedule travel, book studios, and assist in organizing artist roster reviews. This role offers comprehensive exposure to the inner workings of Sony Music’s A&R function and a powerful opportunity for growth within the music industry. (Greenhouse, Built In NYC)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage recording budgets, payments, and advances to artists and studios.
- Oversee delivery of music assets, ensuring completeness and timeliness.
- Drive dealflow coordination, ensuring contracts and agreements move smoothly.
- Optimize A&R systems and administrative processes to improve team efficiency.
- Maintain artist and manager communication, building trusted relationships across the roster.
- Support senior A&R team logistics, including booking studios, travel, and meetings.
- Plan and organize roster review processes to inform strategic A&R decisions.
- Serve as liaison with mastering studios and engineers, ensuring high-quality work and resolving production or copy issues.
- Handle general A&R inquiries and assist with purchase orders and administrative tasks.

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in A&R admin, producer management, or studio management.
- Highly proficient with multi-platform coordination (e.g. email, finance, booking, roster management).
- Familiarity with music production workflows, mastering processes, and label operations.
