Job Description/Summary
Are you ready to turn your passion for audio into a professional career? Interscope Studios has an immediate opening for an entry-level Junior Audio Engineer. This is a rare opportunity for a technically-minded individual to join a world-class team and receive a paid, structured training program from Grammy-winning engineers. We are looking for someone with a foundational knowledge of digital audio workstations (DAWs), a great ear, and an obsessive attention to detail. While professional credits are not required, a passion for technical excellence is.
This is not a runner position. This is your first official step onto the technical career ladder in the music industry. You will be an active participant in recording sessions, learning the Interscope workflow and contributing to projects for some of the biggest artists in the world. What You Will Do
- Assist our senior engineers with all aspects of session setup, including advanced microphone placement, signal routing, and Pro Tools session preparation.
- Operate recording systems for vocal overdubs, instrumental tracking, and vocal comping under the direct supervision of a lead engineer.
- Meticulously manage all session data, including file organization, secure backups, and the preparation of files for mixing and mastering engineers.
- Learn and perform essential studio maintenance, including basic equipment calibration, software updates, and troubleshooting technical issues.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and configure Pro Tools sessions according to the rigorous Interscope workflow standards before the client's arrival.
- Operate as a second engineer during tracking sessions, responsible for managing talkback systems, headphone mixes, and taking meticulous, detailed notes.
- Execute precise edits, vocal tuning (using Melodyne/Auto-Tune), and vocal comping tasks as directed by the producer or lead engineer.
- Diligently organize, label, and back up all audio files and session data using our server systems at the end of each session without fail.
- Assist with daily studio maintenance, which may include soldering cables, testing equipment, and liaising with the in-house technical support team.
- Provide exceptional, proactive client service, maintaining a professional and helpful attitude at all times in a high-pressure environment.
Required Skills
- Deep operational knowledge of Pro Tools, including key commands and common workflows; you must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
- A critical and developing ear for sonic detail, including the ability to identify phase issues, distortion, and other audio artifacts.
- Excellent technical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot signal flow and software issues calmly and logically.
- Strong verbal communication skills; the ability to understand and precisely execute complex technical instructions from senior staff.
- A humble, team-player attitude combined with a relentless desire to learn, receive feedback, and constantly improve your craft.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Certificate or Degree from a reputable audio engineering, music production, or recording arts program is strongly preferred.
- A portfolio of personal recording or mixing projects that clearly demonstrates your skills, musicality, and potential. (Link to website or cloud drive required).
- Foundational proficiency in Pro Tools is a mandatory requirement. You will be tested on your basic operational knowledge.
- A solid understanding of audio fundamentals, including signal flow, microphone types/polar patterns, and gain staging.
