Job Description/Summary
Are you a passionate developer with a talent for creating beautiful, intuitive user interfaces? Are you ready to launch your career at one of Africa’s leading FinTech companies? Paystack is urgently looking for a Junior Front-End Developer to join our growing product team for an immediate start. This is a full-time, fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within Nigeria. We believe in talent over tenure, so while this is an entry-level role, we are looking for someone with a solid foundation in modern web technologies and a portfolio of projects that showcases your skills. No prior professional or corporate experience is required if you can demonstrate your ability through your work.
You will be joining a world-class team of engineers and designers dedicated to building a seamless payment experience for thousands of businesses. In this role, you will learn from senior developers, contribute to our core products, and see your code deployed to a massive user base. You will be responsible for translating design concepts into pixel-perfect, responsive, and highly functional web interfaces. We operate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are looking for a proactive learner who is obsessed with user experience and writing clean, maintainable code. If you are ready to solve real-world problems and help build the future of African commerce, we want to see what you’ve built.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop User Interfaces: Translate UI/UX design wireframes and mockups from tools like Figma into high-quality, functional code.
- Write Clean Code: Write clean, semantic, and maintainable HTML, CSS (Sass/SCSS), and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Build Reusable Components: Collaborate with the team to build and maintain a library of reusable front-end components within our chosen framework (e.g., React, Vue.js).
- Ensure Responsiveness: Develop and test interfaces to ensure a seamless and responsive experience across all major browsers and device sizes, from mobile phones to desktops.
- Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with product managers, designers, and back-end engineers to develop new features and troubleshoot issues. Actively participate in team meetings and code reviews.
- Integrate APIs: Connect the front-end application with our back-end services by integrating RESTful APIs.
Desired Skills
- Core Web Fundamentals: A strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
- Modern JavaScript Framework: Demonstrable experience with at least one modern front-end framework such as React.js (preferred), Vue.js, or Svelte.
- CSS Preprocessors: Familiarity with a CSS preprocessor like Sass/SCSS.
- Version Control: Proficiency in using Git for version control in a collaborative environment.
- Responsive Design: A solid grasp of responsive and mobile-first design principles.
- Problem-Solving Ability: A logical approach to problem-solving and the ability to debug and troubleshoot front-end issues effectively.
Preferred Qualification
- A link to your online portfolio and/or your GitHub profile with examples of your work is mandatory.
- A university degree in Computer Science or a related field is a plus, but not required. We value practical skills and a strong portfolio above all else.
- A genuine passion for technology and an eagerness to learn and grow your skills.
- Must be eligible to work full-time in Nigeria.
Benefits
- Competitive Salary: A competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
- Fully Remote Work: The flexibility to work from anywhere in Nigeria.
- Home Office & Wellness Stipend: A generous monthly allowance to cover internet, power, and other home office/wellness needs.
- Comprehensive Health Insurance: Excellent HMO coverage for you and your family.
- Pension Scheme: A robust pension plan to help you plan for your future.
- Latest Technology: We provide you with the best tools and hardware to do your best work.
- Professional Development: A budget for books, courses, and conferences to support your continuous learning and growth.
